About Me

I am a qualified, person-centred counsellor working in Edinburgh and East Lothian, Scotland.

I believe in the uniqueness of every person.  I believe that each of us needs to be treated like, and valued as an individual in order for us to grow and flourish.  You are the expert on you; and in an equal, honest and respectful relationship in counselling, I believe we can begin to see glimpses of our own true value, difficult thoughts and feelings can become clearer, we can get in touch with our own core values, and we can regain control of ourselves and our lives.

I hope to provide the conditions for you to take these steps, in a genuine and non-judgmental relationship, and I hope to respond to you in your wholeness as a person.

Beginning this process may be hard and painful at times, but I believe that in exploring why certain thoughts and feelings have become particularly hard to bear, we uncover what brought us to where we are, and in what direction to grow to become a fulfilled and happier person.

"It is the client who knows what hurts, what directions to go, what problems are crucial" - Carl Rodgers

"In a world of mouths, I just want to be an ear" - Jens Lekman

As well as being a counsellor, I have worked in a mental health charity in a managerial role.  Prior to that I worked in Events, and in the Arts as a theatre manager.
